Went to see a recruiter today about OCS...
I am a Junior college student at Appalachian State University, and probably have about 2 more years left (from what I have read, this is the time to start the ball rolling on an OCS package). My GPA is a 2.8. From what the recruiter said, I really need a 3.5 or above to be competitive? I am majoring in Biology, which is a BS, not a BA. Does that matter in regards to my GPA?
Anyway, the recruiter told me the best option for me would be to go into the Naval Reserves and submit an STA-21 package. Problem is, I will miss fall semester of this coming school year, which I really cannot do. Is this the right path for me to take with a 2.8 GPA? Being realistic, there is no way I can get to a 3.5 in 2 years with my major.
I would like to think that I could submit an OCS package, see if it gets accepted, and if it does not, reevaluate my options at that point. What do you guys think? Should I even be talking to an Enlisted person at this point or should I be talking to Officers?
Thanks for any help!
