Hello to all! I am so glad that i found this website to help me along the way. I am SK2 Gearing from the USS Gettysburg. I have been in close to 4 years now and have been procrastinating on my package, however am glad that i have. I just want to introduce myself to the board and get my feet wet to everyone. I am coming up on my re-enlistment and am i glad to say that i am re-enlisting! I first went to shore duty after boot and hated the Navy. thought it was boring. Having a degree coming in and being lied to by my recruiters, everyone at my first command told me to put in for OCS and i first wanted to feel out the Navy and get my feet wet to see what i actually wanted to do for my career and wow am i glad that i waited. Since being an SK i work somewhat closely with my SUPPO. I wanted to be out at sea and see what the real Navy is like since shore duty just doesn't cut it for the thrill seeker go getter type. Also i am an SK, so there is no thrill seeking whatsoever in my field. I was told to put in for Supply Corps for OCS and this is why i waited to see what a SUPPO actually does and wow is that job boring. Not to knock the community and am actually putting it in my packet for it just comes easy to me and love the supply world. However I am a man of adrenaline and excitement and love a thrill and a challenge on a daily basis. Also love being outside. So now that i have some sea legs and am on the deck of a ship and know what the real navy is like. im here and putting my packet in once i get my ESWS which is going to happen in the next couple of weeks. I am currently deployed and we are finally 50% through. :)
So to keep it short. I want to fly, i want to be a Naval Aviator. To me this is the ultimate job and this is my goal. So please help me in any and all ways. I am sure i will have tons of questions once i actually start the ball rolling and getting things together. First thing is first though, ESWS. So thank you for this wonderful community and for anything you can throw my way.

Why are you reenlisting again? What if you don't get picked up for OCS? Will you be happy serving your next enlistment? Getting your ESWS pin is great, but that isn't going to determine whether you get accepted into OCS or not. Its not that big of a deal.

There are a lot of topics that are covered here in this forum, OCS is definately a big one. Try a search and see what you can come up with on your own. Everyone here is more than willing to answer any questions you may have after that.

ESWS IS important, as are all of the other qualifications and awards you include in your package.

Some people here might give you shit if you continue posting in a rambling and incoherent manner (proofread your posts)...

Welcome to AW...

did i mention that i was an SK. : )
thanks for the heads up on proof reading. its been way to long since i have been on a forum and i do remember now how it can be. :icon_tong
so... why am i re-enlisting? i want to be an aviator. if i get out and then try to come in as an officer i will then be to old. and ESWS does matter...i like surface and i like the sea and cant wait to get my pin and wear it proudly. if i dont have it, then i will stand out as not having any warfare quals.
once again thanks !!
