same as a flight physical? If not when would you take the "flight physical"? Would hate to jump through all these hoops only to find I can't be a pilot either pre or post OCS. Thanks

MEPS is the place that enlisted people, and prospective officer candidates go through to make sure they are physically qualified to be in the military. They are given blood tests, urine analysis, ortho analysis (crab walking in underwear, etc), vision tests, hearing tests, etc etc.

When I went through it, they marked 'flight physical' on my folder. I did all of the above with the soon to be enlisted personnel, but also was screened a little more heavily in a few areas. They tested my ocular pressure and color blindness, gave me an EKG, and a couple more things.

Hope that answers your question.

Meps sucks...
Flight physicals suck...x-rays, blood work, ekg and the whole nine yards! I think they take everything but a stool sample! Lessons learned: 1. See if you can get a copy of all your physical paperwork...it does get lost more than it should, and in the eyes of the navy, if it wasn't documented...it wasn't done. 2. Get some good sleep the night before...its amazing what a lack of sleep will do to your eyesight when it counts.

Great advice, I learned the hard way from this one.... Got up at 0330 after having been up till 0100 to make the 2.5 hr drive to NAS Jax, did an entire flight physical, vision tested as 20/30.... Tester recommended I get some more shuteye and hydrate prior to getting tested again.... Did the whole bit over again and tested 20/15 both eyes.... Being hydrated and rested make a HUGE difference.

It took you 2.5 hours to get from Daytona to JAX? Were you on foot?

My thoughts exactly... It has never taken me longer than an hour and a half and that was with a crash blocking all but one lane on the I-295 bridge.

It's only 2 hours from Gainesville to NAS Jax....and that's from the west side of Gainesville. A straight shot from Daytona to Jax on I-95 should not take 2.5 hours. I think someone took a wrong exit.

I used to do it in under an hour on my bike. It's only about 80 miles.

It's 100 miles, and I 95 in Florida isn't exactly the most traffic-free highway in the US, especially in the morning. That, plus factoring in the fact that I go the speed limit (florida cops are a-holes), and you all can suck my left nut.

So, were you going the speed limit or was there so much traffic, you weren't able to go the speed limit? You're gonna have to pick one and stick with it. Cause yea, that stretch of hwy from Daytona to Jax is nothing but bumper to bumper. Come on now. Just fess up. You got lost. It's OK to admit it.
