It is possible to change ocs dates?

When I was pro-rec in march i was told by my recruiter that no one is shipping before July 30 2013 for OCS. However I when I got my final letter they said my ocs date was may 2013. For the last 8 months I have been having freuqent tonsilitis every month, so I have to get them taken out. Problem is the surgery is schedule for end of April because I didn't know I was going to ship early. I want to be fully healthy before going to ocs but I also don't want to lose my final selection by requesting a delay. If that is the case i will just suck it up and just report. What should I do?

When I saw the title of your thread I thought it was going to be about needing to stay longer for some insignificant reason which is generally the case, however you have a legitimate medical issue that needs to be taken care of so you need to let the recruiter know what is going on and you will be having surgery, here are the rough steps that should happen.

medical documents to recruiter then N3M TNPQ you
have surgery
medical documents to recruiter showing fully recovered then N3M PQ you again
get OCS date
go to OCS

So after I have surgery and after the follow up do I ask for papers from the place to give to my recruiter? My recruiter told me he was going to speak with the medical officer at meps and then its up to me what i do next. I just want to make sure that if I request to delay ocs I don't lose my final selection that is my biggest worry.

you give all documents with this issue to your recruiter then they go to N3M, MEPS is no longer in the picture once N3M cleared you orginally.

If you go to OCS and have medical issues and you say you had these issues before you went to OCS you could be considered a fraudulant enlistment, you have to sign papers saying you have no medical issues prior to going to OCS.

I am guessing your doctor is saying you need the surgery to stop the tonsilitis issues?

Yes, After I realized the pattern(at first in though it was just throat infection and once it cleared it would stayed clear kept coming back) I was finally referred to a ear and throat specialist. After this last episode she said I definately should get them out. Other than this I was never sick and had no medical problems.

You need to get a letter from the Doctor stating you need to get them out, then take it to your processor to get the ball rolling, if anything goes south down the road it is your career not your recruiters
