If your planning to have a holding delay how do you enter that into your jet log or do you even have to? I knwo how it works for the DD 175 but not the jet log. Also does anyone know where I can find a copy of the GP online and other DoD pubs?
Thanks
Joe

Googled (that's a real word now) "DoD General Planning" and got this link.

On the left hand side select Planning/Enroute Sups.

From that website you can get all of the DoD FLIP pubs including IFR/VFR sup, approach plates, IFH, etc. In Oct they will require PKI to access that info.

If you're planning on holding, just compute how much gas you're going to burn at that point. Since most aircraft hold at max endurance (at least in my experience), or close to it, you can use that number. They teach you a certain way to do a jet log, but everyone has their own way of doing it that's slightly different. Don't get too wrapped around the axle on it.

What's holding and what's a jet log? ;)

At Whiting during the RI phase the instructors there taught us to just enter the time we'd be holding in the time spot, and use the fuel burn we'd calculated to get the amount of fuel for that time.

Jet logs? 1000 pph, 10lb/mile is normal XC planning gouge. I have NEVER held since leaving the HTs.

Been vectored around though.

As for the jet log, I just wrote in the fix and time and adjusted total time and fuel burn accordingly.

Hmmm that sounds suspiciously like H-60 gouge, not necessarily for the aircraft illinijoe05 flies.

MB- I am sure you knew that, I just want to make sure there is no confusion for anyone else.

Remember, you'll never really be graded on your jet log. It's soley for you to keep good SA throughout the flight. So use a method that makes the most sense for you. My $.02.

Yep, good advice. When I actually made jetlogs (thank you PFPS/JMPS), I would put other info on there for my own purposes... freqs, etc. It worked for me and built up my SA. SA is good.

I got to hold over Hannah Lake on Fam 3 on Friday during SVFR waiting for some damn AF lear jet to land on 23 when the duty was 5. This was after orbiting over Jax Beach Pier waiting for the SVFR clearance.

Yeah, I have to agree with Brett here. It should sound something like this....

" navy jet, Jax approach, hold southeast on the 123 radial, 10 mile legs, expect further clearence at 1200Z."

"Jax Approach, navy jet, min fuel."

Or as a Harrier guy did once... "Approach, Marine Jet is single engine"

Let's just say that Approach didn't understand that a Harrier is in fact a single engine...
