Hello,

I am submitting packages for SWO and Supply however, Supply is my first choice. My recruiter told me to put SWO as my 1st preference because the SWO board was before Supply and the next SWO board might not be a couple months into FY22. Would putting SWO as my 1st preference affect my chance of getting accepted for Supply?

Yes, of course it will. Put your preference in your actual order of preference. I you don’t want to be a SWO at all, don’t even put it down at all.

I would do what your recruiter says if you are looking to tell people years later how a recruiter screwed you over, your recruiter is looking out for him or her and not looking at your best interest.

If you want Supply then only put Supply, if you want Supply but would be ok with SWO then you NEED to put Supply 1st and SWO 2nd, however at this point I wouldn't trust your recruiter to do what you want, so safe bet is only go for Supply.

You might look at getting a new recruiter.

It doesn't matter if there are only 1 more SWO and Supply board this year as there will be another one just a few months after that.

If you put SWO first that is telling NRC that is what you want, so if you put it first and are seen by the SWO board then unless the Supply board is meeting at the same time then you will be pulled from consideration for Supply and processed for the USN as a SWO.

What rank is your OR and do you know if they are new?

I wonder if officer recruiting isn't his primary job and it is normally enlisted recruiting, or he is an NC that is a career recruiter that is only looking out for him, either way he is setting you up.

Just go with Supply, we tend to actually look out for each other unlike the SWO community.

It'll ABSOLUTELY affect your chance for Supply.

If you put SWO as your first choice and get accepted before the Supply board meets, your packet will not even be reviewed at the Supply board because they'll assume you accepted the SWO Pro-Rec.

If you want to be SUPPO, you need to have it as your first choice. Your recruiter is a moron and is screwing you over with this suggestion.

If you would not be happy being a SWO, do not apply to SWO. Do not allow your recruiter to dictate your designator applications.
