Guess there wasn't any reason to hang on once he couldn't coach. Now the crazies will blame the Penn St president for "firing" him (actually just involuntary retirement) and thus killing JoPa.

The Penn State world will never be the same.

I agree. There will probably be no more (alleged) rapes of children and subsequent cover-ups of the real or alleged crimes at PSU.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not celebrating anybody's death; just as with anyone who dies, I feel for his family. I just can't join with the masses as everyone waxes nostalgic about his "legacy" as a football coach, when there are people out there coping with the consequences of his (in)action when he learned that one of his staff might have committed of one of the most horrible acts one human being can do to another. It makes me nauseous.

Sheepdip- Are you 100% confident in your intent?

Paterno screwed the pooch in an old school cultural kind of way. He's dead now. Let him RIP for better or worse. The peter puffin' Sandusky will suffer no matter what his legal outcome. If the dude gets off on a technicality- he's dead either way. The lifers want to make an example of him, tossin' the salad each evening for the seniors etc.. His penalty for failure to perform will likely be excruciating. Kahrma's a bitch isn't it.

I'm sad for his family as certainly they are hurting.

Other than that, I can't really muster up distress about the death of a truly flawed man who just happened to be exceptionally good at coaching a game.

And here, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly what's wrong with our prison system and the cultural acquiescence to the atrocities therein. Well done! Rehabilitation, my ass.
