Just applied to PLC for a ground contract for one of the summer splits. I am a Marine in the reserves. I am kind of anxious because the board does not meet for another month. I have two concerns. I messed up my ankle so my PFT was only a 262. Other problem was that I am only in community college because I got back from MOS school really late. How bad does this look? I have only one semeseter in community college so far, but I have good grades. Does the reserve experience usually help an applicant out? Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. I dont want to worry too much but I am concerned because I want to go this summer.

Having been throught the whole worrying process, I think you will be just fine. When i started my application process 3 years ago, I applied with a 2.9 GPA and a PFT of 239 while I was at my community college. Keep in mind that I applied during a time when slots weren't so easy to gain and since you are applying during a time when there is a shortage so I don't see you being turned down. Just get to OCS prepared and you will do just fine.

I am at a CC as well, and it was in no way harmful to me because I had great grades ( 3.7 ). Other guys go tin also from CC with less than good grades ( 2.7) The fact that you are a reserve will actually benefit you. It gives the board members that confidence that you know a little of what to expect and you can hack it. Good luck to you..

Good grades (and GPA) and a PFT score over 250? You'll be fine my young Devil Dog! Also (as you've seen) you won't be the only CC college student to have applied and attended OCS.

I got in from a CC as well with a measly 245 PFT when I contracted. It really helps that you're applying for Juniors. I don't know about the rest of your package, but you should be fine.
