I took the last possible PRT I could this morning before my Pro-Rec expired and I am sad to say I did not make the situps. I even restarted the entire PRT to see if I could do the situps again and still came up a few short (even though I did the pushups twice over!). I even hired a personal trainer the past week to help push the numbers and still could not get it. I only blame myself for not getting a personal trainer earlier, thinking I could do it myself.

At this point, since I barely made the Pro-Rec after three months of being tabled, I fear my selection again is non-existent. I have fought over the past year to get where I have, and maybe in a couple years attempt it again.

For now, I just want to thank everyone for giving me tips, techniques in flashchat and in various threads.

I feel somewhat relieved (although angered at myself) that a huge stress has been lifted and for now will seek a career loan to get my CFI since some regionals are hiring at 300-500 hours.

I figure in a couple years, I can always try again and show that I've improved and persisted.

Once again, thanks everyone for your help and thanks to the owner and mods of this forum keeping it clean, fun and a wonderful time waster.

Why wait a couple years? Pursue your CFI, but at the same time get in shape. If the only thing that kept you from making it was situps, that seems like a small thing to overcome.

I only say this because their are many, many people who put if off and then realize it is too late.

Miller,

My friend from work just got hired at Big Sky Airlines with 330 total hours, only 40 were multi. Now is the time if you want to get into that. Good luck. But give this another shot, don't give up!

If it is really what you want then don't wait. Keep working towards it. I bet if you really work for it you can be up to snuff in a few months. You've come this far... I agree with the above and would work towards it while also working towards CFI. Whatever you do, good luck to you.

Cheers.

Miller,

Keep on working at it. Trying to build muscle to be able to pass is a lot easier than being a fat guy trying to drop 40 pounds to get in and still have the strength to do well.

I was 260# when I started applying and working to get into BDCP. I have struggled and still struggle to this day to keep my weight in check while being able to perform on the PRT and in the cockpit.

If I can do it, you can do it.

And with that, I am out for a run. Using the hills/mountains here to my advantage and training in a way unavailable to me in TX.

Rockin the 1900D, sweeeeet. The best part about it, is that as FO he gets to show everyone how to use their seatbelts. Now thats what I call benefits!

Shitty regional jobs will always be around. Don't quit over some fucking sit ups.

Thanks folks for all the motivational words. I'm looking at different ways to get my CFI, lots of 90day wonder programs out there that seem tempting. I'm pretty sure I pissed off my recruiter failing the PRT 5 times. Thinking about relocating to Florida to do my training and start over with the application while I'm getting my CFI ticket.

Now that the Pro-Rec requires your PRT, at least it's an easy way to prove improvement over last time.

Miller,
Hang in there. You've come so far and obviously have what it takes. It would be one thing if you couldnt pass the ASTB or didnt meet some other requirement, but all you have to do is get into better shape, and when it comes to obstacles that should be a minor one.

Keep pushing towards that dream. I've always thought that how we deal with failure is just as telling about our character as how we deal with success.

I've attempted to contact some people in order to relocate and extend my OCS package. I'm willing to fly, drive, or ride-a-hobo if necessary to keep the pro-rec. I've pm-ed a couple people in seek of help, but if there are any others out there, when/if I meet you there are large steak dinners, beers in your future. :D

Keeping the fight...
