How rare is it to get stationed at K-Bay after flight school or later in your career? I think I could survive there if I had too!!

Go Navy and fly either with HSL or VP, and it won't be a problem. Otherwise for the marines, you have the 53 squadrons there.

Aloha means hello and goodbye, love and thank God I'm not in Brunswick. Flying P-3s it is fairly easy to get Hawaii, I mean hey! I got it. I found the married guys wanted to stay on the mainland for their honey's and leave all the surfer chics to us solo flights. K-Bay is absolutely fabulous.

We only have the Ch-53 Deltas out in Hawaii. Those are the older twin engine models of the 53. As opposed to big, sexy strong triple engined echo model that the rest of the Corps uses. There are currently three "active" squadrons out in Kaneohe with about ten helos each, and one FRS squadron.
You can select ehcos out of flight school, do your first tour, then do an easy transition to deltas.

53D's in Hawaii is a harder selection to recieve out of flight school due to the small number of pilots required to fill three fleet squadrons. They will normally select one pilot every other week and it has all gone to those who put it as there first choice. My advise is if you want Hawaii be the top of your class and you'll get it. I will say it is well worth it! It is a great tour married or single. Good luck!
