Leave from OCS?

Rearden

So what's broken on this jet today, Chief?
None
I assume I know the answer to this, but I figure it never hurts to ask. I recently got pro-rec'd for OCS and I'm working on getting my package finished. The question I have stems from this: My recruiter is telling me that I have to enter OCS by June 24th in order to be accepted due to the fiscal year ending in October. The problem I have is that I am supposed to be best man in my best friends wedding in August, which would fall smack in the middle of OCS. I assume there is no way to get leave to attend this? I know, it's a really dumb question, but I'vek known this guy for 21 years and I'd already agreed to do this. Alternatively, is there any way to possibly delay entry to OCS until after this is done, even though the recruiter is telling me June 24?

That's interesting... what are you pro-rec'd for? I got SWO, and my recruiter tells me I have to go by Jun 24 as well because it's the last class in fiscal year 06, and I guess that's the year we were pro-rec'd for. Since you haven't received final select yet (I'm assuming), I believe you could hold out for a later date. Good luck - if you stick with June 24, I'll see you at OCS!

Just another reason to be liberal with the "date available" on your application. I graduate in 2 weeks, but I put 1 Oct. as the date available to be sure that I have everything in order. Other than that, you might want to list them in order of importantance, cause I know that they won't authorize leave unless it's an emergency. Sorry!

Been there, done that.
Getting leave during OCS isn't a good idea, and impossible unless it is a true emergency. If I were you I'd push it off, but I don't know what repercutions may result. I think this is one for Wink. He is/was a recruiter and seems to know all the ins and outs.
