Will be taking leave next weekend. My question is regarding how many days will I have to take:

I have to be somewhere Friday, a duty day. I will stay until Saturday night, returning late, say 2300. Saturday is not a duty day for me.

Would I be taking 2 days of leave [friday and saturday] regardless of the Saturday being a non-duty day? I don't mind burning the extra day...

The only reason I ask is that I would not normally have to take leave to go to this location on the weekend. I'm still learning the ins and outs.

The answer to your question depends on whether Saturday is a day of duty or not. At one point you say it's not, another point you say it is. If Saturday is a non-duty day, then only Friday will be charged as leave. If Saturday is a duty day, then both Friday and Saturday will be charged as leave.

If the day of departure or day of return is a non-duty day, then it is not charged, however if both the day of departure and day of return is a non-duty day, then one or the other will be charged.

Although, I've been out of the PN world for about 6 years now, so I could be wrong.

It's the best when somebody always ends there information with "I could be wrong". I do it too. Just think it's funny.

I have to do that now, cuz in the PN world, things change every damn day. For example, until about 3 years ago, commands couldn't frock petty officers based on advancement messages. They had to wait until the profile sheets came out. I didn't realize this had changed and I told the master chief at BOOST that he couldn't frock the students yet. We looked it up and I was wrong. Instructions change every day, so it's best to always assume that there's a good chance that you're wrong.

You don't have to take leave on Sat if your location is still within your normal weekend travel limits. You probably wouldn't have to take leave on Friday if your reason was good enough, just put it in the snivel log

nope, the whole snivel log idea was vetoed by the ensign in charge. I'm picking the wife up from the airport. She's coming back from Germany. I'm also going to the spring comissioning for my old unit.
