Leave While in A-pool

I'm a Firstie at USNA soon to be a SNFO. I have a wedding to go to in September, but I also want to class up as soon as possible. What are the possibilities of taking leave in September if I check into Pensacola in August, given the long wait?

You should be fine, pilots are classing up w/ 16 weeks on board right now and it can only get longer with the june flood.

Yeah, if you class up by December, you'll be lucky. Enjoy your stash job and vacation.

For SNFOs, you can most likely anticipate a nice 4-6-8 month wait. So I wouldnt worry about classing up as soon as possible. Because chances are there will be a good amount of studs waiting to class up who had checked in 2 months prior.

I'm not sure how it is now, but when I was swimming in A-pool we needed to have all the pre-API stuff completed before we could take any leave. If thats the case, then knock that stuff out asap upon check-in.

Just out of curiosity, as a 1/C midn who hasn't heard much info yet: what pre-API stuff might you be referring to?

1. Get a medical up-chit. You should get this done within ~3 weeks of check-in
2. Take a PT Test (Same week as your up-chit)
3. Take BOLTC (Talk to the Stu. Control Ensigns to schedule this)

When you do your check-in for NASC you'll receive a list of "Things to do" before you are eligible to class up for API. So dont worry about it now. They'll hold your hand (i.e. schedule you) to make sure you have all that jazz complete so you can class up. But some of the pre-API things I remember are:

-helmet fit
-BOLTC
-PRT/Swim screen
-flight physical
-IFS
-etc....

Hope this helps.

For USNA, IFS is typically completed prior to reporting to API afaik. BOLTC has a long wait right now, but that of course could change.
