Letters of Recommendation..

I am in the process of "beefing up" my application (ADDOCS) before it goes to Millington for Pro-Rec'. I am adding a former CO of an Air Wing (family friend), but he is an aviator and presently with a NROTC unit (CO). I've also added my Congressman (also a family friend). I'm pretty sure the Congressman's recommendation will carry some clout, since it is a personal one, but I'm not so sure about the other. He mentioned that he is not an NFO (my 1st pref), but has extensive knowledge of the Aviation community. Also he is a helo pilot by trade, rather than jet or prop. Would this make a difference, or is Millington agnostic toward LOR's?

The fact that he's a Congressman should be sufficient. You look to be in good hands.

I don't know. I think the Congressman being a helo pilot by trade pretty much has you locked in. You'll probably be automatically selected for the 60 Bravo. Milington likes to go with a sure thing.

Actually, the Congressman is a businessman (realty and insurance) by trade.. I was referring to the O-6 (former CO of Air Wing) that I was adding who is still active. I believe he formerly flew SH-60's.. Anyway, I got Pro-rec'd for SNFO today, so I figure someone had something to do with it.. Maybe it was just luck or my good looks! Anyway, thanks for the helpful info guys.. Any tips or advice on how long it will be until I get Final Selected? Or how long until I receive OCS Orders?
