Hey everyone,

I was wondering if during API, do you get the weekends off or are you restricted to base? And if you are restricted to base. How can I get off base to go see my wife? Do I need special permition?

I also, welcome any advice you all might have for someone who is married and going to API...

Thanks

I'm taking you to the looneybin.
Whoa dude, it is API not boot camp! If you are trying to get one over on me, nice job.
But anyway here ya go: unless it has changed, you can live where you want, no on-base restrictions. Class starts around 630a with a lunch break at 11a for an hour then back to class until 430p. Then go home, have beer (hang out with wife if issued one), and repeat for a month or so. Weekends are good to blow some steam and get steamed, study a little, not too much though. It is a fun time to enjoy Florida!

Sorry did not mean to sound that way...

I was just wondering if it was going to be like OCS, where liberty is on a Whim.
it's funny 'cause i just put the same kind of posting in the OCS forum. And i thought that OCS was going to be like you just described API. It seems I got the two Mixed up. LOL!

Thaks a lot for the info.

In OCS you'll be an OC....which is the scum of the earth, if I understand the whole process correctly. But after 13 weeks, you'll become a commisioned officer in the navy, and treated as such in API. And like Eagle said, you go home at the end of the day and do whatever it is you do. The weekends are yours to fill with studying and quality family time.

You will be treated BETTER, but don't mistake that thought for being treated like a fleet officer!

A lot of Marines make the same (incorrect) assumption about OCS part II...er, I mean TBS. (OK, it really depends on your SPC and XO, but it can have its moments where you swear you are still a cand.)
