Can anyone comment on the pros and cons of living in Milton for API and then doing primary at Whiting?

Is that too rough a commute for API, or a good way to set up for primary?

Con: you might not get Whiting for primary ;)

... you're probably looking at a commute of up to an hour each way from Milton. Thats a lot esp with gas prices the way they are now!

Living in between still puts you 30 mins from either base. Just keep in mind that API is only 6 weeks ... and primary is pretty long - so if you don't want to move and don't mind the commute for API as opposed to both, Milton might be a good choice...

Doing the Milton thing for API/Primary. API sucked butt (esp. the 0600 musters), but it was such a short time. You're sleep-deprived during API anyway. The gas sucked, too, but the 10 minute "commute" I have now more than makes up for it. The longest part of my "commute" is just getting through the gauntlet that is the front gate! I appreciate the extra sleep on this end.

(After all the time and money they are spending on that front gate, WF had better not fall to BRAC!)

45+ minute drive... 6 weeks vs. 6 months... you decide. (Add 2 hours to that after the hurricane)

If you are a single guy, the drive might be worth it for the social life in P-Cola, but if you have a family do yourself a favor and live in Whiting Pines. That was the best decision I ever made. I had more fun there than I ever had in the T-34.

That's because you were surrounded by Texans! Yeah I miss the 'block' too.

I agree %100 that living in Milton/Pace is worth the drive to API. You'll thank yourself when you start having those 0530 briefs in primary/advanced.
