LOR's from same organization

I was just wondering how many of you who applied for BDCP and/or OCS had two or more of their letters from people from the same organization? I'm having trouble getting my letters since I pretty much don't know much people in high places.

I had multiple teachers from my high school give me letters, you don't have to have letters from high places just diversified, like I had a coach (determination), a teacher (willingness to learn), and a manager (how I conduct myself at a place of business) of mine, a state senator (politics), and an Air Force pilot (patriotism and if he would like me to serve with him), each to show a different side of my personality.

Agreed...I had numerous letters from professors at my college. Again, the diversity in theme is what really counts. It does you no good to have 4 or 5 letters that say the same thing over and over (even if they are from different organizations). Most people will ask for information about yourself before they'll write a letter - just guide them in the direction you want them to go.

I had LORs from each command. Luckily, they still remembered me...and not as a 'soup sandwich'. My package is still being reviewed for OCS.

You don't need to know the President, you just need someone who can attest to your work ethic and maturity. Teachers are awesome because they have observed these qualities and have no reason to embellish.

Flyin: I read somewhere in this forum that someone's OSO set up a phone interview between a field-grade officer and the applicant. The officer wrote a lor and it's almost as hot as ProRec. I didn't do this, but it sounds like a stellar idea.

Everyone BEWARE: I was spontaneously called on a Friday night a few months ago for a rapid-fire interview with a LTCDR from Intel (my BDCP designator). Half the interview was in Spanish, so he obviously paid attention to my application. If anyone has questions about this interview or anything else for that matter (I was selected yesterday), feel free to email me at <oztin79@aol.com>.

Best of luck to all applicants!

I’m not sure if your question has been sufficiently answered yet so I’ll throw in my two cents as well.

I actually, and quite unbelievably, submitted only two LOR’s. One was from my AITP Faculty Sponsor (She is an instructor at the school I attend) and the other was from my best friend’s father (He was in SF for 20+ years and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant). I think his LOR was the reason I didn’t need more than two and why my Chief submitted my package with only two LOR's (Without telling me mind you).

It is a little bit of a crap shoot when applying. My ASTB score(s) was quite average yet I was accepted. So who knows eh?
