We (E Co, TBS) just had our Day/Night patrolling package this week, and as the PL, I (a 7599, BTW) had to prep/call in the LZ brief to get us out of TA-16 and back to Barrett. The alternative was the tactical white school bus, so I made sure to "secure" LZ Finch with my motivated squad and their 5.56mm blank-firing drill sticks.
The HMX-1 phrog driver was gracious enough to let me complete the whole brief, but we all know he was just going through the motions for me (which was confirmed by the fact that he was on the deck by the time I got to line 15!)
That said, what do aviators look for in a good brief? Are there certain items that are more important than others? Is the aviation community as picky about comm procedures as, say, the 08 field?
In other words, when my time comes to pick up the ground-types, what are the important things for me to know in order to get them in the air?
