Major G.P.A vs Overall G.P.A

I tried searching for this and couldn't find anything on this. How much weight is given to an applicants major gpa vs the overall gpa? I would guess it is a little different for tech majors. I'm curious because I have a bit of a disparity between my major gpa and overall gpa. I have a 3.6 international relations 3.3 history compared to 3.2 overall. Obviously not a huge gap between my history gpa and overall, but I'm curious how a board would view the difference between the IR and overall gpa.

I had a 4.0 in my major (physics) and a 2.7 overall when I got selected. As long as your record / LoRs / essay paint a consistent picture of someone who is hardworking and motivated, etc. you'll probably get selected (eventually).

If you are a borderline case, it all depends on who else applied, alignment of Mars, whether the board had Taco Bell or Burger King for lunch...etc. Try not to worry too much about it and just do the best you can.

Sorry about the threadjack...

Where on the app do they ask for that? Or is that something they get from your transcript?

They ask for your overall gpa in the academic history section, but you major gpa will show up on your transcript.

does not matter with your case in the big picture too many other things go into selection test score to be a biggie, college, diversity or not and other things your GPA is fine your school is good too. but your choice in designator will have play too. If you choose intel then selection process is harder than say if you tried for NFO or SWO
