Malt/PCS mileage rates verse TDY Malt/PCS mileage rates

Ok, so I had this question.

We just got done with our PSD brief, and they were telling us when we eventually close out our travel claims in Primary, we will only be reimbursed for 20 cents a mile. I explicitly remembered seeing a JFTR instruction for 50.5 cents a mile, so I came home and looked it up, where I found the TDY mileage rates are $0.505/mile and the malt/PCS rates are $0.19/mile, where malt/PCS rates are not designed to reimburse for gas expenses incurred during the move. So basically the PSD people are making it sound like we're getting reimbursed with the malt/PCS rates.

As SNA's with TDY orders (which limits how much I get reimbursed for my DITY) to API, shouldn't we be entitled to the TDY rate of $0.505/mile? At $0.19/mile, I will be losing slightly over $100 ($275 spent on gas during the DITY move at 13 mpg, potential reimbursement about $165).

So any thoughts?
Thanks,
Dave

Here is the DITY move calculator, I have no idea what kind of scams they are pulling in Pcola but I assure you, they are trying to bone you to say gov't $.

Well, what is confusing me is that my DITY move was TDY and as such limited to 600 pounds, and PSD is saying that the my mileage rate will be reimbursed as if I did a PCS move. So I'm just trying to learn from the system to make smarter choices the next time around. At any rate, none of this will be settled on until I get to primary.

I am very curious to find out the difference too. I'm not sure which I was paid (pretty sure I havn't even been paid) but this seems like just another way they are trying to hedge our entitlements.

FYI, Whiting uses Pensacola PSD. Only if you go to Corpus will you be freed of this mess (maybe).

Moves and travel pay are different.

If you have TDY orders then there should be 3 moves.
One TDY from your last duty station to API limited to 600 lbs.
One TDY from API to primary training limited to 600 lbs.
One PCS from you last duty station to primary training limited to the max for your pay grade.

I know because I got all three of them.

The travel pay is to cover transporting yourself to the duty station and is independent of the DITY moves. Im not sure what mileage they used when they calculated my final claim but it seems like you should get the TDY rate to API then the PCS rate to primary. You would have to go into PSD and get them to figure it out.
Use their chain of command if you cant get straight answers.

I'm pretty sure I was at the same PSD brief, and it was hilarious to watch that woman steamroll over your question, only to have you back it up with an official reference (if that was you). Seems like you guys are getting the shaft, but if you go to PSD with that in hand they might help you out. I had an appointment there the next morning and they were about 200% nicer one-on-one.

Haha, yeah that was me. Apparently the DITY paperwork is separate from the travel claim paperwork, so I'm going to schedule an appt either with PSD or Personal Property to get my DITY travel claim and assorted paperwork done.
