Marine Air Contracts

I am a recent college grad on the east coast who has been trying to go to OCC-Air since last October (2009).

My packet is complete and ready to be sent up to the boards at any time...but my recruiter keeps telling that there is no contracts available for ANYONE. I believe that I have a solid packet that should place me in a great position for a contract...here is some background.

300 PFT (17:00 min run time)
3.6 GPA - graduated
6, 7, 6 - ASTB
3 years college ROTC
good flight physical
etc...

I was told for the past several months that there would probably be some slots open for October OCC... but I got a call last week saying that they are not even looking at packets for the rest of the year.

I am searching for any kind of answers or explanations. Has anyone, besides females, gotten an AIR contract for October/January OCC.

I understand that there is a backup of students at both TBS and Flight School....but that has to loosen up sometime???

Nothing for a while. Best advice is to do something else that you like to do and keep applying. eventually we'll need more people.

I am actually in the same situation as you right now. My recruiter called me last week and told me the same thing. My packet is complete and is in the process of being approved by July but no air contracts for pretty much the whole year of 2011. I've been also waiting for one since 2009, where my recruiter told me they will be giving out air contracts in October of 2010, but now it's another year. He said it could also take about 2 years which suck for me because I am turning 25 this July and if I sit and wait, I might be too late in terms of my age since you have to be commisioned before 27.5 years old.

Let me know if you find anything else regarding this topic. Glad i'm not the only one but sucks for the both of us and i am sure others as well.

Keep applying. It's highly unlikely that we would go 12+ months without hiring more pilots. When it does happen, it won't be very many, so it will pay to be exceedingly qualified.
