My question is regading the ACE supporting the GCE. With many fixed wing squadrons being sent to supplement navy squadrons on the boat, do they then get their ATO's form the carrier air wing? And if so how does this affect fixed wing support of the Marines on the ground?

It seems that the ACE of the MEU's is where Marines in support of Marines is more largely seen. Mainly through helicopters, is this a misconception? And if so what am I not seeing?

Wow, I couldn't even begin to tell you anything about this post for the use of all of those acronyms. Not your fault, I'm just not experienced at all of this lingo. Anyways, back to the topic.

I think you're pretty close with the helo bit, but don't forget the Harrier.
Also, although you are a Marine, I think you fall under the Chain of Command of the Admiral -- but I'm pretty sure they place most emphasis on your supporting the GCE. Not to mention -- the Navy guys fly a lot of attack missions. But, this is all theory more than fact (haven't really seen it in action "real-time" until as of late). I doubt the fast movers provide a whole lot of CAS -- depending on how you define the CAS. You probably get much more support from combined arms on the ground side --- tank, arty, and morters (and of course the helos).
