Marine Aviation Training virtually shut down?

For those who haven't read my other threads, I was PLC Flight contract, but I didn't get accepted by the board for two years in a row due to a low run score, ergo sub-270 PFT score.

I am going to be a Senior this year and finish my degree. I was informed that the Marines has too many pilots and have virtually shut down flight training. There are no available contracts for OCC.

I've considered enlisting first to wait out this pilot surplus. But due to military budget cuts it might get worse

I've considered trying for ground (which I know is more competitive than Air or NFO) and then trying to switch before TBS.

My question is, is there any way to know if the Marines will need more pilots from OCC when the new fiscal year starts? Or is this now just a pipe dream due to more budget cuts?

Alright. That's what I will do. I'll keep trying.

My OSO told me there were no Air contracts for OCC this year and next year. Is that true?

Your OSO should be your best source of information. Keep in mind that the numbers change constantly. So what is true today might not be so in a few months. According to your profile you are only 21, you have some time. Do what Treetop Flyer says.

Check out MarineOCS.com as well.

He may mean there are no available air contracts - I.E., they've already been filled.

The Naval Academy received 80+ spots this year. ( I know because I just graduated) I know we usually get first crack at flight contracts. That may be wear the majority of the contracts went. Best of luck
