I think they are decommisioning in the next year or two

I heard that 134 wants to go forward. Im not sure if the decommissioning is going to happen because VMFA-321 from Washington just decommissioned and send a few of their jets to 134.
As far as Miramar going bye-bye, they've been talking about that for a while. It wouldn't make sense, because they are in the process of retrofitting all of the old barracks and just got done with the BEQ/BOQ. With as much money as they are spending on that base, it wouldn't make sense to all of a sudden just close it.
If that happens, I know a lot of people are going to be pissed because most of the helicopters will go to Pendleton, the rest probably augment the two squadrons that are up at Edwards. As far as the jets, I've heard that they will either go to Twentynine Palms or Yuma. Either way they go, they will still be far from the paradise that is Southern California.

I know what you mean.Hopefully they will never close.Nothing like eating lunch in North County and see Hornets flyby.

You're entering a world of pain
I agree with physicx. One of the joys of driving down the highway in the san diego area as a child was seeing Marine and Navy aircraft flying above.
