Marriage Waiver?

Someone on the Marineocs.com forum said they needed a waiver for being married. I was a preselect for 191 and my OSO said that I did not need a waiver and that it was only for enlisted that required one for being married. He told me that its only if you have dependants (i.e. kids). Can someone please verify? I don't want to get down to Quantico and get sent home over something so stupid.

My OSO has not mentioned any type of marriage waiver. I'm in the same boat so if I talk him I'll get a definite answer. I think we would have needed that waiver before being preselected.

I agree. I was told it is only if you have kids. The guy that said he got a marriage waiver also has a son so I think he might have just gotten misinformation. Lemme know though.

As far as I know, a wife is considered a dependent. The waiver is the same for having a wife, or a wife and 5 kids. I don't think its a huge deal, but definitely get with your OSO to straighten it out. This is something that was brought up in my application process since I am considering getting married in the near future.

Here is the thing. I asked my OSO before I submitted my package (I have already been selected for 191) and I was told that a waiver is only needed for a child and not for a wife. Can anybody give a final clarification?

YOU DO NOT NEED A WAIVER FOR A WIFE! I know from personal experience if thats good enough for you.

I just found out today that I was selected for OCC-191. I am married and there was never a mention of a waiver, only if you had kids.

I got it off flightinfo.com (there you go zab....one of your favorite websites ) I just saw it an hour or so ago. With my warped sense of humor, it immediately came to mind when I read Taxman's post.
