Math and Aviation

I just took the ASTB earlier today and did not to as well as I thought I should have. I diligently studied the handouts my recruiter issued me as well as the ARCO Military Flight Aptitude Test book. The two sections I found most difficult were the math and aviation. Any suggestions as to where I should look in terms of study material?

Read the FAA handbook for explanations on aviation stuff. Also, if you put atrickpay's personal guide on flash-cards, you should do really well on the aviation/nautical section. It's all pretty much there.

Thanks for the info on the aviation material. From what I have been reading it seems as though everyone feels that the ARCO book as well as the Marine gouge are the most reliable sources when it comes to studying the math material. The question I have is what ARCO book in particular (I have the ARCO Military Flight Aptitude Test book with the American Flag on the cover) and I can not seem to find the Marine gouge on here because when I click on the link an error page appears.

So did you actually try searching or did you just say you did? I typed in marine gouge in the search function above and got this in a matter of 10 seconds. It is actually funny because this thread is directly below yours in the ASTB section (see the link above that I gave you).

Here is the thread in which I found it.

Here is the marine gouge link.

Alright, so I was ranting a little bit above. My apologies for that but you are going to need to work harder at this if you really want it. Spending hours upon hours researching this site along with many others (see www.usnavyocs.com) to gain a strong understanding of what you will need to do to achieve this goal. We are happy to help you if you have questions or can't seem to find a answer. But when I type in "marine gouge" and come up with several hundred threads and a working link is found within one of the first threads then you didn't "really" search. This site is a GREAT source of information and the members of this site have great knowledge and experience. That being said we ask that you search first and if you can't find your answer by all means ask. Someone will be happy to assist you if they can. If we can't answer your question someone will direct you to an appropriate source. Good Luck to you!
