simple. 2+2=4 type stuff. Actually the best thing I've seen so far is using miles per minute rather than miles per hour. It makes the math much simpler. IE... instead of thinking in terms of 180kts, that's just 3 miles a minute. If you're doing more math than that in your head, then you're probably just wasting time. It's all simple algebra at the most. Knowing how much time or distance you can travel given the fuel flow rate and #s of gas is a typical example of what I mean.

Do helo bubbas have a max weight for .... what do you call it when you get low to a ship and then they attach a hook to you and reel you in?

In other words, do you have to fuel dump at all? Simple math involved in that. So those of you in junior high pre-algebra should pay attention!

You'll be surprised at how hard adding two numbers can be when you're trying to fly and talk at the same time.

And I'm an Electrical Engineering major.

hey all, I'm a civilian pilot hoping to hear back on how my 1st attempt at becoming a Naval Aviator went. I have a great book on aviation math it's called ASA Mental Math for Pilots and it is great- they have a website.
