MCAS Miramar Air Show 2009

Anyone have the chance to go to this years Miramar Air Show? I was there on Friday and on Saturday for the twilight show. Everything was awesome. The Canadian Snow Birds, Patriots Jet Team, and Blue Angels all put on a great show, and all the other performers as well. If any of you went let me know what you guys thought.

I went years ago just before the USMC took it over when I was about 16. I remember it well because the marines had the pull-up bar set up, and my dad, who was about 40 at the time, put all the young 20-somethings to shame on it.

As for the airshow itself, I remember it being pretty awesome, especially with the marines doing a sweet MAGTF demonstration, using pyrotechnics to blow the field to hell (of course, you could tell it wasn't real, but feeling the heat from the fake napalm strike was still pretty cool).

I posted two videos on you tube of the blue angels if you want to check them out. I shot it on my Iphone so the quality isn't the best.

I got that shot in a still from the Corpus Christi show in April.

It looks better at full size; I down size my photos when uploading to Photobucket.

Very nice, I wish I had a nice camera to take some good pictures, but all I have is my phone haha.

Here's two more videos I posted.

Here's a smattering from the 80+ pics I took. I got a cockpit FAM from a 53E Major, got to meet an old-timer former owner of a Cessna 140A, which his son now owns (a prior Naval Aviator), and he told us some crazy stories. Blues were nuts, Fat albert was a usual crowd pleaser, and spent the day with beer, brats and nachos...

Looks like a Stearman, also know as the Yellow Peril back in the day. (Which was WAAAY before my time... :D)

I figured it looked like a Stearman, but had foreign markings on it, so that threw me for a loop. I thought Stearmans were only US birds.
