Mechanical section help?

Hey everyone, first post here. Currently working on entering the BDCP on the aviation route. Just took my first try at the ASTB last night. Got a 49-6-6-7. I know my OAR is low, and I think it was the mechanical section that got me. Anyone got any websites besides the ones already listed I could check out or any books? My next try is April 10. Thanks everyone.

Try some of the ASTB prep books (ARCO, Cliffs etc) but if you specifically want the mechanical section, check out any basic college physics course textor a highschool physics course text. Try getting an idiots guide or something to highschool physics. Nothing too number-crunching heavy...mostly concepts.

There is a huge wealth of information on this site. What I did when I was studying for the ASTB was go back to the first thread in ASTB and read forward until the present. There is a sh!tton of stuff. To view them you need to change some of the setting on the ASTB thread page. Download every guide and read every site.

Thanks guys, I'll start right after accounting homework (what a headache). I want into this program like nobody's business - been my dream since I was 4.

Thanks for the info.

Did you get the info booklet with the F-18 on the cover? Everything in that book is all you really need to know about mechanics on the astb.

Not in at least one of the new versions.

I had some hydrostatics and optics questions I wasn't prepared for.

That said, the Marine gouge has got you covered on the mechanics and E&M stuff, which is about 70-80% of that section.

I have that booklet bookmarked already in my browser. I think most of my version was covered there, maybe one or two pressure problems or water problems were on there it didn't have in the gouge study guide. But I'll go back and re-read it (like 20 times).

Mech help...

The mech section was also the worst for me. I used the website below to research all the hydraulics/levers/electrical/optical information I could find.

Like AW, use the search function on it and you can find almost anything. I put in the link for the optics discussion for you. Best wishes...

James,
I have read your last couple and those score that you got are not that bad. Anyway, I just took the ASTB a couple days ago and I thought the mechanical stuff was kind of easy. I have been in for ten years now and applying by the end of the month.
Anyway, about your water questions let me know, part of my job in the Navy is Anti submarine warfare so I might be able to help you.
Good Luck Todd
