Med after Pro Rec?

Mom dropped a bombshell last night that at a young age I think like 6 or 7 was diagnosed w/ asthma which I don't remember as it's never been an issue since then. I definitely did not list this for MEPS as I don't recall ever using inhaler, but mom says doc did give me the diagnosis

Question is how f***ed am I?

Is there anything I can do to rectify? I refuse to go in on false information. Do I have any options at this point?

odds are that the records are gone, so unless your mom is a Doctor "I think" doesn't cut it.

when a person answers the medical forms there are spots for yes or no, not "mom thinks", if you answer yes in 99% of the cases you should have medical documents to back it up.

I have seen guys do down the "mom thinks" road, some are now officers after jumping thru hoops, some are still civilian with no hope of getting in.

Come on man, don't fall for this one. This is the oldest trick in the book for Mom's... my son just got accepted into the Navy to fly military aircraft... don't want my baby getting hurt...better drop the ole' "but honey, you had asthma when you were 6, you can't fly, it just must have slipped my mind to never mention it until now, silly me."

Those mom's are sneaky dude! If you're not careful, their tricks with get ya every time.

Congrats on the Pro Rec!

in regards to med records, my doctor as a child is long gone and not sure how the hell im going to scrounge together what records are available, is it up to us to have our ducks in a row and bring a file full of records with us or does someone on the Navy side look into our med history through some means of their own and confirm or deny what we have written?

The only records that the USN takes are those that are in your file when you were cleared by N3M, generally that means all the records sent from MEPS to N3M

If a doctor didn't tell you or isn't on paper, then you were never diagnosed. "Dr. Mom" doesn't cut it, unless she happens to be your actual doctor.
