I'd forgotten about "Shoe." Back when comics were good. Harumph!
Merry Christmas!
Shoe was a good one, a real good one, but the top level was a tie between The Far Side and Calvin & Hobbes.
Well of course. I assumed that was a given.
I got a Far Side daily calendar for Xmas today. Haven't had one of those in a long while.
its a shame there will never be a movie based off Calvin and Hobbes.Happened to see this today: the last Calvin and Hobbes was published exactly 25 years ago today. 31 Dec 1995
Kind of against Watterson's ethos. He refused all offers for licensing.its a shame there will never be a movie based off Calvin and Hobbes.
That's one of the reasons he hung it up, as I understand it. His publisher was always pestering him to milk the cash cow, and he kept saying "no" to licensing and merch. If you look at a lot of the art-related spoofs he did where Calvin was the "tortured artist" pressured to pander to the masses, Watterson was actually lampooning the relationship between him and his publisher.Kind of against Watterson's ethos. He refused all offers for licensing.
