MH-53 Sea Dragon crash

It's never easy to read about something like this.

Sea Dragon? Is that what the Navy calls the MH-53E? I could have sworn it was the Super Stallion but I've been wrong before.

Yeah, a det just got back only a couple months ago. I think the Sea Dragon and Super Stallion are basically similar except the Dragon has larger fuel tanks on the side and is made more for MCM, but I could be wrong.

Yes, the primary difference between the USN MH-53E Sea Dragon and the USMC CH-53E is the enlarged fuel sponsons. The MH however does not utilize external fuel tanks like the CH does. It includes a more advanced avionics package and of course the specialized ASW electronics. The airforce also operates a series of MH-53J Pave Low for special operation missions. The 53J however is much more similar to the CH-53E then the MH-53E with the exception of the avionics platform.

NPR reporting that the wreckage came down near a TV tower and light from the top of the tower is in the wreckage.
