I watched the Letterman show last night and Sgt Dakota Myers was a guest. Was amused with his sense of humor, pleased with his humility, pensive with his reply about what happened and how he reacted. Then I thought of the hundreds of thousands who have died in service protecting our country and our freedoms and was again humbled. All those who died deserve the Medal of Honor instead of a gratuitous Purple Heart.

I'm thinking you mean the last sentence metaphorically, but I hear what you're saying.

Sgt Myers is amazing, and very similar to most of those who receive such honors in my experience. They're all very humble and give much credit to those around them and those no longer with us.

That's in contrast to the fake heroes out there, for whom every trip to the head was a freakin' adventure.
