Monday and Tuesday are big days for me

ASTB tomorrow (Monday), MEPS and 1st PFT on Tuesday. I've studied alot for the ASTB, so I'm not too worried about that, plus my mom gave me her captain's bars for good luck :icon_tong . I'll let everyone know how it all went.

good luck with everything. If you've prepared, then you will do fine.

I got to enjoy nine fun filled hours at MEPS :sleep_125 . If you can, try to take your ASTB before your PFT. I made the mistake of taking them the other way around.

Good Luck,

ugh...I was blaming this sore throat on all the shouting I did last night. I've come to the realization that I caught a cold from my dad. This blows.

Did you just use the materials on this site to prepare for the ASTB? If not, what other things did you use?

Why was it a mistake to take the ASTB after your PFT? I'm thinking what happened to you was that you took the ASTB immediately after your PFT, at which point anybody would be just wiped, mentally and physically! Nice job though!

most people who post on here are using stuff from around this site, some of the study books that they sell for the test, and SAT prep books for the math stuff. Just keep studying like its going to be the hardest thing you'll ever take, and then once you get to it it will be a joke. Once you see all the answer choices for the problems, most of them will jump out at you if you didnt already figure out what the correct answers were.

And i'm guessing that it would definately suck taking a test right after a PFT. You should be going hard core for the PFT to get the best possible score, and that would probably leave you very unwilling to take a long test! Good luck

Little bit of trivia; the ASTB is not designed to be studied for, rather you are supposed to take it with no prep...found that out from a Navy Capt in Pensacola...

Yeah, I never would have passed if I had relied on that...gouge from this site is great...

I used all the stuff from this site, the Arco test book, a meteorology website, a boating website, and I found some stuff on air traffic control basics online too.

from what I hear, all that you need to do is pass the minimum requirements as far as the astb is concerned. Any higher score will look that much better.

Marine Corps wants you to just pass the ASTB. I concur on the not studying part. My OSO tested me 4 days after my first talk with him saying the same thing that it was an aptitude test, not a regurgitation exercise. I bought the ARCO book but didn't really study, just familiarized myself with how the spatial app part worked. That was worth the $4 bucks to buy a old version at Half Priced Books.
