MOS Description

HI,

Can some of you describe your MOS & what duties it entails? For example, what a typical day would be like? I'd really appreciate the input.

Also, if I become a MP, how long before you can work with POWs?

It is important that you do research about an MOS before you commit to your enlisted contract.

With this said MP as a female will have most likely get you pulling people over state side on base for your first enlistment.

You will NOT be working with Detainees (not POWs)

PM me with specifics. But your naivety is showing and you don't want to go down a path that you will regret once you are in the Know.

My husband is Aviation Maintenance Officer we'll be going in July. Any details? I read the the AMO website but it's pretty broad. We're in this weird not air and not ground stage. Any details from anyone going through this or familiar with the MOS would be greatly appreciated. : )

I used to be a maintainer in my Enlisted days, and I have several friends who are AMOs. Also, my monitor is an AMO as well. I know how I interacted with my OIC back in the day, and I remember some of what went on back then. Pretty much, the OPNAVINST 4790 is the Super Bible when it comes to aircraft maintenance, as it lays down the law for what happens, who is qualified to do what, etc. I'm sure your husband will be neck-deep in it before too long.

As far as being in the airwing, but not air... Welcome to my world. As a DASC Officer, that pretty much describes my entire existance. PM for specifics.

I'm sure everything is based on a person's personality, but I think AMO is a great MOS. Its challenging, ever changing, requires a lot of problem solving ability, and a lot of interaction with the troops. AMO school is fun, and taught well.
