Is there a motorcycle safety course available at P-cola? I am still in Houston and I can take a course here but it is $160, so I would rather wait and get it free but I am having a hard time finding any info on it there.

Any help or info would be greatful.

Sure is. They run it 2-3x a month, and seats fill up at least a month ahead of time.

Don't have the number off hand, but just get with the base safety office when you get down here (or earlier). Don't schedule it during API, if possible.

They have 1-2/mo. that are something like all day Tues & Wed, and they have 1-2/mo. that are 2 hours Friday night (academics) and all day Saturday & Sunday.

They also have four 250 Nighthawks/Rebels and helmets if you need/want them.

I took a civilian MSF course like 5 yrs ago. I guess it was same deal as just described. I had to pay like 230, but it was good enough to get me out of taking the base version. That course was awesome, I swear it saved my life atleast 10 times. Now Im looking into taking the experienced rider course to save some dough on insurance. Does the military offer that one? Or is that only for civilian schools?
Also- def recommend those ICON milspec vests. Theyre pretty good. 40 bucks gets you the vest. Looks alot cooler than the roadguard vest, and has pockets for mil id and mp3 player (or whatever else you want to put in the pocket).

The free NASP safety course (can't vouch for others) is the very same MSF Basic Rider Course you will take in the civilian world for a few hundred clams. It is taught by the same civilian instructors that teach the course at P'Cola Harley, and others. Also, the course is free for spouses.

They do, indeed, offer the MSF advanced courses, but not as often as the BRC. Call the safety office for more info.
