One of my old high school buddies was asking me if I knew anything about flying helicopters for the National Guard. Does anyone have any information that can point me in the right direction (how to be competitive for selection, etc). Also, do they even pick up people who aren't already winged? Thanks!

Somebody will come along with more details but I will say this:

The Army Guard unit at my base that fly's the Apache had nine people apply to their last flight board (WO slots). All nine of them will be going to flight school...

I don't know if all units are hurting that bad but it wouldn't surprise me if they are.
