Navy enlistment bonus question

I am in DEP, shipping out Oct. 24th. I signed the initial contract on Sep. 16th. I was told by the guy that there were absolutely no bonuses available and the Navy was not giving them out after September 30th. Yesterday, i found out that on the 16th (the day i signed), the Navy extended the bonus to include recruits that ship out between Oct and December. I'm not sure how to feel about it honestly, so I'll leave the emotions part out.

What do I do? Do I have to separate and reenlist? Is there an amendment that can be added to the final active duty contract?
This isncoming from someone who could change their life 100% for the best if they got this bonus, hence why I want to fight for it if I can.

Note: This forum is strongly naval aviation and officer programs centric, not so much for enlisted.

It’s my understanding that if you drop DEP there’s a 6 month waiting period until you can even DEP again. Recruiting bonuses, especially for enlisted, change so regularly and it’s possible the bonus won’t exist down the road should you decide to drop over money.

The site you reference says the bonus effective date was 9/17 and it is for specific rates so maybe you wouldn't have been qualified for one anyway.

It is highly likely that at the time the person you spoke to didn't know of any bonuses.

There will always be people that just miss a bonus and there will be those that just get lucky.
