Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone has any information on the class number for this OCS group? The OCS website has 12-020 listed, but for the Direct Commission Officer Indoctrination Course and not specifically for Officer Candidacy School. I would love to have this clarified by someone!! I want to be sure I'm sending mail to the right guy :] Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

My husband is in that class and it's 07-12. They had to create some e-mail account today so I did get a short but sweet e-mail that pretty much said they have been ridiculously busy since day one. The address is posted on the OCS website under FAQ. http://www.ocs.navy.mil/ocs_faq.asp. Hope this helps!!

Ah! Thank you so much! Did your husband tell you that in his email? My boyfriend gave me the rest of the address before he left, but we didn't have the specific class number then. I've been scouring the internet for days, haha. I've sent a few letters already, I wonder if he'll get them or not... despite the wrong class number, he doesn't have a very common name. Well, I'll start addressing them to Class 07-12!

He didn't mention that in the e-mail, but he did say he had been getting my letters and I have been addressing them to class 07-12. He knew it before he left (not really sure how though).

The ones without the class number should still get to him, as long as it said OCS on it. Theres only 4 OCS classes there, about 200+ people so it shouldn't be an issue. One of my letters didn't have my class number and it still got to me, and people that roll get mail with their old class number for a little while.

Millsra, thanks again for the info! It's good to know they're getting mail already, I'd read on some sites that they can hold it for up to two weeks! Is your guy prior enlisted? We're both from non-military backgrounds so this whole thing is a little new to us, although my bf has been gearing up for this for the past two+ years. Is the 07-12 class comprised of all SNAs or are there others as well? Are you going to see your husband over Christmas? I know they have the 23rd-25th "off" (whatever that means!).

SC-NY-88, That makes me hopeful he'll be getting what I've been sending :] Thank you for posting!

Yes, my husband has been in the Navy for a little over 6 years. It's definitely a different lifestyle and I wish you two the best of luck in adjusting to its ways. The OCS classes are all mixed together (not just SNA), once they complete OCS then they move onto the next phase...which I think is API and then Primary in Pensacola, FL.

They have off two weeks for Christmas and from what I have read on here it's usually in their best interest to not stay on base (they get stuck shoveling snow and what not). I hope he takes advantage of being able to leave and "rest up". All I can say is keep writing him words of encouragement and it will be over with before we know it!

yes, yes.. I have been prepared for the extended stay in Pensacola :]
Will you be relocating?

Is it two weeks for Christmas? There is SO much info online, and we had seen the "two week stand down for Christmas" in a bunch of places before he left... but then when they were able to call on the first day after passing the PT stuff, he said it was only Friday-Sunday.... although he might be thinking about just staying on base and doesn't have the insider info about what happens when you do that!

In it for the naked volleyball
Putting 12020 on the letters may end up getting them delayed. That is the current ODS class, and as such, it may just get thrown in with theirs. It would then take an additional few days for the ODS class to realize the mistake, bring it back, and then have it get picked up by the OCS candidates.

The reason I know, is because I threw a few into their pile on Monday, and it wasn't until I went through it again and noticed it said "OC Lastname" that I went and looked up the Candidate's last name, and then put it in the right box. There is a lot of turnover in Student Pool, and they may not catch it at first.

As long as your letter has their name, class 07-12 on it, and 291 Kollmeyer, it'll get to where it needs to go.

Oh, and as far as the stand down, it's from 16 Dec to 2 Jan. That said, many people won't want to take that much time, especially from 07-12 (since they'll have RLP right after getting back). Staying there isn't terrible. You're basically assigned to student pool and work from 0800 to 1600 on weekdays only. For Thanksgiving, they couldn't find enough work for everyone that stayed.

Fattestfoot -- If it's a mail bonanza, then it's a mail bonanza! I'm just glad to hear the mistake won't keep him from getting envelopes at all. Also, thanks for the info regarding the stand down, but what is RLP? I tried googling it - some sort of room inspections?
