Yo whats up guys and gals as you know I am stuck getting surgery for my shoulder. ANd the USMC is taking the stand that I should pay for it seeing how I have hurt my shoulder 3 times.

Do any of you know who I can call to argur with about the usmc paying for it. My oso is awesome but seeing how he is a Marine he needs to fallow the chain of command I do not so if anyone knows who or how to get in tuch with someone who can help i would appreciate it.

When you were getting processed out of OCS, they should have given you (if you're a civilian and I assume you are) some info about, I forget...Notification of Eligibility? Basically if I remember right, it says that they will pay for you to see a civilian doctor (or $400/month) until you are healed.

Sorry I don't know more about it, since I was active duty I just tossed what they gave me on it. But I think it's called NOE, and I think you can find out more from the VA.

You may already be using that, I don't know. In the meantime I'll see if I can scrounge up anything that may have anything useful on it.

Gtodd-- Here's some advice: YOU ARE NOT A MARINE! For whatever reason, you did NOT graduate from OCS, you got sent home. The Corps does not owe you anything. So my advice is go on with your civilian life. Dust yourself off, gimp around with your shoulder and go find pity somewhere else. If for some reason you slip through the system and end up with gold bars someday, you can continue your ooh-rah ooh-rah cheerleading. But for now, just leave it alone. Stop expecting the USMC to give you anything, or people to treat you like a war hero. You got sent home. Deal with it.

looks like "dirty underwear gang" got a new sign on!

reality bites-- even if Gtodd isn't a Marine he got injured while on active duty and because of this he is owed compensation for his injury.

Crowbar I did not get that stuff you mentioned.

Thabks for ALL the info I know I am not a Marine and that i did not do anything spescial and I know I am owed nothing. I was just wondering seing how I got hurt at ocs and seeing how they said get fix comeback that they would pay for it.

Second I am not looking for pitty I am glad it happened at ocs and not flight school or tbs.

Third I would not be able to live with my self if I "sliped" through the system.

I am just trying to cover all the possible angles because this surgery is goign to be expansive.

And thanks for the opinion Reality Bites. Just understand I do not wnat pitty.
PS
Sorry for the crappy spelling.

Didn't get it? There were two of us who left with injuries at the same time. We both had to initial and sign these long drawn out forms saying that, I know I'm eligible to get money to help cover my medical bills, and here's the number I need to call, and blah blah blah. Have you asked your OSO about it? I can't find anything now that would do any good. But I do remember the other person who left with me was asking lots of questions because he had broken his hip. Just for kicks I even called whatever number they gave me and was told that the benefits were just for civilians. Definitely worth giving that OSO a call and asking him if he can give you a phone number to call about it(I think so anyway).

It is an NOE. I broke my foot during the crucible for Sr's. I still completed the event AND graduated (without my commission--I was in PLC) and received an NOE (as Crowbar mentioned) from the Doc I was seeing there at OCS. It payed for all my medical bills once I got home. You should have received this and ARE eligible for it since you were on Active Duty when injured. I can't tell you who to contact though, besides your OSO. Maybe you can request the contact info he has, but like you mentioned, you would be going outside your chain of command.

Ignore "RealityBites". With an attitude like that he won't last long here. They never do.

Hang in there, get the surgery done if that's what they're telling you to do, get back in shape and try again! Sh!t happens sometimes, you've just got to grin and bear it!

Reality Bites,
Why post with such statements anonomysly.

With statements like that you do not deserve to be a leader of Marines. The Marine Corps is all about the guy standing beside you. IF GTodd spent one hour at OCS he is not a Marine but is the resposibility of those who are Marines; those Marines who led him. If I was his leader and he got hurt I let him get hurt, and it is my responsibility to fix him. If you happen to be an Officer in my Marine Corps, "God help your Marines".
