IFT2O; Being in API, maybe you can answer this for me. Is there a practice skydive/parachute jump built in?

there is red-neck parasailing. were a parachute, get dragged into the air behind am F150 and then fall 30 ft to the ground. by no means sky diving.

IFT2O,

I was checking out some pics on your website from OCS. I see that you have a pic of my DI (Gysgt. Watson). In the background, there is a guy with a camera focusing on another DI. Do you know what's that all about? I was in Gysgt. Watson's first class as an OCS DI (08-04), and I was wondering what class was that in the picture. Good website sources though,

That is Class 05-04. Gysgt. Watson was in training at the time (I guess). I think CNATRA sends these PH's over to video this stuff for training. They did the same thing at Aircrew school while I was stashed there.

Thats no fun! Do you guys use rounds or square canopys?

They are modified round canopies. That's what the Navy uses anyway for parachutes. The parasail is about an 18ft/sec fall. Navy chutes are approx 25 ft/sec depending on your weight. I'm sure Spec ops , leapfrogs and such have different chutes.

NO fun my a@# !!!. The parasail exercise was a blast. And it may have changed, but when my class did it, it was a helluvalot higher than 30 ft.

Yeah, ours was like 200ft up. It was too fast though, I wanted to go for a ride.

one free fall jump was enough for me
now that I know what it feels like, I will definately try to keep my plane flying

If being in a plane is flying... then being in a boat is swimming! Seriously though, it takes about 6-10 jumps before you get enough perception and control to actually have a great time.
