Hello,

I'm a PLC-air graduate getting my commission in about a month. I was told today I need to get my anthropometric measurements done again because I'm apparently too big (6'1") to fit in the "new trainer jet". Is the T-34 or T-45 getting replaced now (or soon)? If someone could let me know anything about this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks,

Dak

The only one out now as far as i know is the T-6 replacing the T-34.
6'1" doesn't sound too big though. There are plenty of guys that are taller than that.

At the local airshow this fall, I talked to two IPs from Meridian that had flown down in a T-34. They said that for the Navy/Marines, the T-6 will not be used for training pilots until around the 2010 timeframe.

That's what they told me.... I know intermediate is out of Meridian and Kingsville. It was a Navy guy and a USMC Captain.

Nope, no T34s in Meridian. It's not so much the actual height of 6'1". . it's whatever anthro measurement (maybe the butt to shoulders one or whatever) ..Like pat said .. there's plenty of tall folks. There's a few posts on here regarding anthros if you'd like to learn more. .

good luck

Do you know when SNAs will start flying the T-6? I heard something about the T-6 coming to Whiting Field in the Spring. Can someone back this up? They are already using the T-6 syllabus...

The gouge out here in Corpus is hat we will be getting all of whiting's T-34s around 2005. That would mean that whiting would have T-6 prior to that.

This is just the gouge here in corpus, who knows if it is correct or not.

If you are really wanting to fly the T-6 go to primary in Moody (I can't believe I just recommended that, DON'T GO THERE)

Thanks :) I am really looking forward to T-34's :) It doesn't matter what I fly. I love the Navy, and I am very excited to be moving to Pensacola. My report date is December 3rd. My XO at my current command told me that students in Primary were beginning to use the T-6 syllabus... I will be very happy with T-34's. Hopefully they are much more fun to fly then Cessna 152's :)

I'm in the T-6 right now at Moody AFB and I'm 6'1" and I have absolutely no problem fittin in the T-6. There are IPs that are taller than me that do it every day. Whoever told you that is full of BS, unless you have unusually long legs or your sitting height is jacked up or something like that. Anthro's aren't just how tall you are, they're also the distance from your hips to your knees and how high you sit and all that other jazz. It is an ejection seat aircraft, so if you do have long legs or something that could be a problem b/c your kneecaps will get sheared off if you punch. Although here you can still sign a waiver and fly anyways, you just won't be able to sue the gov't when you have to punch and you're in a wheelchair the rest of your life. As for T-6's at whiting and corpus, what I've heard is that they won't be getting them for at least a few more years. The info on NFO's flying them at Sherman is correct though. I'm not sure how many out of the starting class are in them, but I do know some are (got that from a good friend of mine who just finished up NFO training there). I flew in there about a month ago and they have a whole ramp full at Sherman. If you are starting primary as a SNA sometime in the near future though and you want to fly the T-6, you have to come to Moody... but that's AF training and that's a whole 'nother ball 'o wax.
