Huh? Preliminary data collected at OCC? Since when did they let candidates on the range?

There are only two possibilities there. 1. They confused OCC with TBS. 2. They were referring to the rifle scores of the OCC staff. I'm thinking number one.

I think it's a little unfair that Marines will get compared to others who have superior equipment. It's sort of like allowing some Marines to kip on the PFT. I imagine it's hard to coordinate with the equipment rolling out at different times.

I just signed for my M-4 with ACOG. I don't know when the hell I'm going to qualify with it, and am more than a little apprehensive about going back to the rifle range with a different weapon about 8 years since the last time I shot a rifle.

I'm pretty sure they meant TBS. While I was at the range for Bravo, there was a group of Mike Co Lts doing some testing of iron sights vs. ACOGs.

A lot of my buddies were volunteered for that working party. So instead of the normal 2 weeks of range time at TBS, they had 4! HAHA! :icon_tong

This is a home run for the Marine Corps - combine the Marine Corps culture of immersing recruits with marksmanship fundamentals with deploying with something like the TA-31 optic and you have it all.

Plus the TA-31 allows both etes open, a great reticle system, and compatibility with all the fancy PEQ and NVD gear....

Great optic, great move by HQMC. More effective, lethal shooters is the result.

I have gone to the range with the ACOG and I personnally don't think I shot better. I am always a low Expert at the range and that did not change. This was also true for the few other O's that were shooting on the line with me. Now, what was clearly evident at the end of the week was that those that suck really did not get better despite the RCO.
So, fundamentals is key and the RCO does not make you shoot better.

Shooting with an EOTech holo sight, I can't say that my groups were any tighter or that I placed more rounds on target. It did help greatly with target acquisition though---I could get rounds on target quite a bit faster. No need to get that cheek weld, and it's more accurate than just using your front sight.
