Newport guys: Electric Shaver?

If any Newport OCS guys are able to respond, I was wondering what the policy on having/using an electric shaver while attending OCS is? Thanks.

Though technically contraband some guys have them and use them for a very quick touch up during the day. But you need a razor to get the close shave you want in the morning.

I saw a bunch of people with them, and I'm pretty sure they are officially allowed too.
Although the razor will give you a closer shave, if your a hairy bastard and get a five o'clock shadow at noon, you might want the electric shaver in your war locker to clean yourself up fast.

When are you going to get that F-16 off of your avatar?

I have to shave maybe once every three or four days, and that's just to get the random stubble off my face and chin. Even at that, I would never even think about going through something like OCS without using a good quality razor every day. I love my electric razor, but it will never get as close a shave as a razor.

I knew there were other reasons to hate you. :D

My buddy is chinese and has to basically shave the top corners of his lip and his chin. Im jealous. My beard hair is so dark and thick that after shaving you can still see the hair under the skin. Guilty of being white I suppose....I have a Mach 3 btw. Works well for me and i dont plan on bringing the electric razor. I will just carry it with me and use it all the time like that guy 'Mac' did in the movie "Predator".

An electric razor is great. You can shave with a razor at night, then touch up with an electric in the morning. Lots of people use them. You won't be able to bring it in with you right away, but on a POV run later on you can grab it.

For me, it takes just about the same time to use either an electric or standard, the difference is the standard gets a lot closer.

Ok, seriously guys. Stop sweating the small stuff. There has been tons of threads on stuff like electric razors in this thread, to electric toothbrushes to types of deoderant, underwear and any other item up for discussion at OCS. Here's the deal:

Just bring what the site tells you, as it is probably the simplest solution and will be the least hassle for you while you're there. If you want to bring electric devices such as razors and toothbrushes, just stow them in your car, and if at some point on a POV run you think it is appropriate, then bring it back to battallion with you. These are NOT the details you need to be worrying about. Get your ass in shape, memorize what you need to memorize and start preparing yourself for a DIFFICULT 12 weeks (or longer) and start working on the mental toughness to not quit. I'm sure you would rather have spent more time doing this, then have your electric razor in H.

Fair enough?

Don't sweat the small stuff.
