Next NFO board in Sept?

I just wanted to verify some info. I was told the August board for NFO was cancelled. All 2005 NFO slots were filled at the July board, therefore the August board was cancelled. The first board for 2006 is September. Can anyone verify this? I just want to make sure I am not getting the run around. Thanks.

05 was full a long time ago. The last 05 OCS candidates shipped sometime in June. They have been filling 06 slots for many weeks. They are just less then half full for 06 NFO last time I checked. It is entirely possible the board took a time out for August. But not for the reason you state. They have many other duties to tend to.

Because I can see the stupid blank look on your faces, let me explain ONCE AGAIN. The fiscal year your quota counts against is determined by when you are commissioned. Since OCS is about three months long, the last 05 guys were selected a long time ago and shipped no later then sometime in June to finsih OCS before 01OCT05. So, 06 selectees are already down at OCS. If they are already in OCS they must have been selected some time ago, right? Here is the deal. Don't try to game the system or even understand it. It really isn't necessary. Just apply as soon as you are eligible and keep applying until you are selected. No tricks to it.

Here's the deal with my situation. I had all my stuff together in June. Took the ASTAB on June 10. I received my results four weeks later. Consequently I missed the July NFO board. I called my recruiter at the beginning of August. He said he thought all the slots were filled on the July board and that he was pretty sure the August board was cancelled, but I would be all set for the September board. It sounds like someone is blowing smoke up my ass. I just want my application to see a board soon. I am tired of waiting and I am definetly not trying to "game" or "understand" the system. I don't care how many slots are available. Again, I just want my application to get to a board.

Boards are held at the Navy's convience not the applicant's or recruiter's. For future reference, recruiter's attend college career fairs quarter throughout the country in attempt to make it readily apparent to the applicant to apply early.

If your paket is complete, test, medical, application, then it has already been sent to the board and will be seen. I know it's tough, but this is a slow process and the officer corp. is shrinking because of budget constraints. FYI, It has already been discussed that a Senior Chief will command a small boy to sea with chiefs replacing the 35 or so officers. This is the future and may someday soon affect aviation.

I don't want to speak for your recruiter. It is possible though that he said what he did to add some context to the board cancellation in August so you would not have false hope of a quick reply. You may have also misunderstood him. As I said. it makes no difference. So your test results took four weeks. That happens these days. First board your app could have made it to cancels. Too bad, the Navy has other things to do besides wait for your application to cross its desk. The 05 dates were closed out weeks ago, big deal. There are still 06 options for you. My point is that it doesn't matter what the recruiter said. You got your test results and finished the ad docs asap. The board will look at it when it gets to it and there is nothing you can do. It isn't like your recruiter said or did something that has compromised your chances. There are still FY06 quotas. Lighten up and let the process work. You should have been warned it is long and irregular.
