NFO Instrument Rating

Hi all. I'm a FNG on this list so sorry if this has been discussed but I didn't see anything when I searched for the topic. I'm an "old" NFO, A6E B/N, that after many years I'm getting my private license. Hope to take the check ride in a few weeks. I was looking through my old navy log book and noticed I used to have a NFO Instrument Rating. Anyone know if that means anything for getting a civilian IFR rating? I'm planning on doing it but if there is some magical way of not having to go through that hassle I'm all ears.

thanks

Unfortunately, it means nothing to the FAA. The only benefit to you will be the experience you have which will make your training that much easier.

Yeah, all those annual instrument classes you sat through will benefit you when you take the civ ground school, but that is about it.

I'll have to agree with these guys. It'll make all aspects of instrument training easier, except converting to your actual rating.

But, this by itself is pretty good. It takes most people quite some time to grasp the instrument world when they've never been through it before.
