Don't give up. If I gave up, I wouldn't be here now...

Yeah, never give up. I know a few guys who applied, got denied, applied again, got denied again, only to be picked up the third time around. If you want it bad enough, you'll have to prove it...

Well I had a 47 6/8/8 ASTB, great LOR's from a boss, faculty chair of my U, and a current Nasa astonaut/USNR capt. The only thing I can think is that the OAR got me. I've got alot of involvement in sports and extracurriculars, 3.7 GPA, I've got a PPL too. I know there is probably 100 other dudes out there just as good or better. I'd like to get the OAR in the 55-60 range. O well, I've got 6 months to do it

Yeah I get at least three emails a day on ways to better my package, although I'm not sure how I got on that email list.

OUCH!
JoshDavid, get your OAR up and you are golden. It took me 4x to get picked up AND I didn't get my 1st choice. Now that is a kick in the nuts!! Get that score up, be persistent and you have got it made. Maybe you could also join the Civil Air Patrol. That is my .02

I thought about CAP. I go to school with a guy who has been in for years and loves it. The only bummer is trying to fit full time school, full time work, and CAP in all together. My recruiter is conveniently on leave until the 6th, so I'll have to wait until then to see what he thinks, but I think the OAR is my downfall.

With CAP, you get as much out of it as you put into it. I'm not advocating that you go there, do nothing, and simply put it on your package but I know that some people have done similar things for scholarships and such. Alternatively, you don't have to go to every meeting. You can go once a month if that is what works for you...

JoshDavid, just wanted to chime in with my situation. It took me three times to get accepted (just under 2 years of re-applying). I am now in week 10 of OCS. So, there is always a way to get here, it just may take a little longer than expected.

I'm not exactly sure of the dynamics behind the selection process, I just know that I was told by the recruiting office that I had recieved professional recommendations for my 1st and 2nd choices and my 3rd choice was a go, if I passed the swim test. :)
