November/December boards, looking at the competition.

AM3 (AW/SW) 5 years in the Navy (currently Active Duty)
BBA in marketing 3.71 GPA (March 31, 2007)
Junior Sailor of the month (June 2007)
Junior Sailor of the Quarter (2nd quarter, 2007)
Letter of commendation from CO (0-5)
Plane captain of the month (December, 2005)
Plane captain of the quarter (4th quarter, 2005)
ASTB OAR 47 5/6/5 (1st try)
1 LOR from XO (0-5)
4 LORs from 0-4's in same command
SNA physical complete
Clearance paperwork submitted
My last 3 evals were Promotable, Must Promote, #1 Must promote (4.27 individual trait average).
NJP in January 2003, NJP in October 2004, been a turnaround sailor since.

Planning to get endorsement/LOR from my commodore who is an 0-6, and my last CO (0-5).

Planning for the November boards.

-23 y/o
-3.0 GPA (History)
-ASTB 7/7/6 57 (1st time)
-PRT(taking on Wednesday)- 100ish sit ups, 80-85ish push ups, 9:00-9:15 mile and a half run.
-5 LOR's - 1 former guidance councelor, 1 prof, 1 former youth group leader/family friend, 2 former employers.
-10hrs flight time (still flying when I have cash)
-No prior military service.


My application should be set to send off after my physical and PRT @ Great Lakes on Wednesday. Anyone else had to go to Great lakes? If so how was it? Anything I should know before hand?Good luck to you Surf, and to everyone else applying.

Still gotta take the PRT and round up LOR from

plus a couple others I'm trying to think of.

Still not sure if I might go in for the december boards instead.

Additional Info:
Had CO's NJP in 2003
One of my LOR (Sub O-6) is from the CO who masted me
Both my previous CO and current Commodore discuss the NJP and how much I have learned from it.
All Evals since have been EP except the one immediately after, which was an MP
I also wrote an NJP address discussing the situation and how I have learned from it

Anyone know if the aviation board is going to meet before the 15th because of Thanksgiving or is it same bat time same bat place?

I'm not sure but I don't think it would be changed. Thanksgiving is on the 22nd this year. If the board is on Thursday the 15th, the results should be out COB Friday.
