NPA flightgear issue location

I am in Pensacola visiting my family and finally have opportunity to try and trade my "naugahide" version of the leather flight jacket I got issued in 1984 for something a bit less plastic looking. I know they are all low-bidder manufactured, but mine wasn't even the right shade.

Flight gear issue used to be somewhere along the flightline but I'm sure it has relocated. Someone told me you could do a failry simple swap if you had paperwork and one to turn in. They would give you an attrites' turned in jacket, whivh would be fine - mine is that bad.

I have about a 30 minute window later this morning prior to a flight out of base ops if anyone can vector me the right way.

I'll have my paperwork, be in uniform, and have one to turn in, so I figure the worst they can say is "no."

Appreciate it.

It's "south" of base ops, along the southern line (my terminology). It's a yellowish building across the street from the sims. I think there's even a sign that says "Gear Issue" or something to that effect on the road. If you have your paperwork, you should be good (as long as they're in stock).

FYI they seem to have plenty of leather jackets in stock now, my whole class got them, and we had every size from midget to giant. The big thing they were waiting on was green jackets, which will supposedly be available in April 09. If you call the woman that works there she can have stuff shipped to wherever you are, if it was missing at your initial gear issue.

I think this is the first documented case of a leather jacket surplus down there. I may have to swap mine out for the right size when I get down there while the getting is good.

I should caveat my post by saying I've seen/ heard nothing other than what my class experienced going through a month ago... definitely call ahead just in case I'm a big dummy... :icon_tong

I went in, she was very helpful, but she can only give me a turn-in unless I want my command to pay for a new one (there's a full-blown instruction out there dealing w/ this). Given my current / future non-flying status, that would have Fraud, Waste, & Abuse written all over it. She had about two dozen, all size 40 or 42.

Took photocopies of my gear issue paperwork, my ID card, and my parents' phone number and said the next time she gets a 44 in from an attrite or size mismatch, she'll give them a call and my Dad can come swap out. Not that I'm hoping any of you big and tall guys drop out or anything.

Totally different look - almost black and very supple as compared to my turd brown naugahyde POS.
