Hello all!
I found out that I was selected last week and I am very excited! I can tell that my wife is scared about not having me around. I know, as does she, that this is a part of the life (I'm prior Marine). I am also very sad at leaving my 2 year old son who is everything to me. Do you all have some tips on how she can feel close to me and I to my son? I know packages are a bad idea but I didn't know if you had any suggestions.

Pictures and memories. Make the most of your time with your family before you go, but it's only 12 weeks. That's a drop in the bucket compared to what you've got in store for later, I'm sure you've been through it being a Marine.

Just like in the fleet most if not all OCS classes have some sort of Facebook page for friends and family members. It might be one way for her to stay and touch and link up with folks in similar situations.
